If you are closely tracking your fertility using a method such as Natural Family Planning, you will find that the time AFTER ovuluation and BEFORE your next period is considered to be infertile.

Medical studies back up this method as 99% effective. In other words, out of 100 couples who have unprotected intercourse during that infertile time (each woman must determine what time that is by tracking her cycle) only 1 couple will experience a pregnancy.

No method is absolutely failproof, but this one is pretty darn good.

There honestly really isn't one. Ovulation dates can vary from person to person, so unless you're charting them daily, it's never safe to go without any birth control. Besides, unless you're married, would you want to risk STDs?
