They say necessity is the mother of invention, in my case necesaity was the mother of my license!
I had learned to drive at 14 out on a remote property and was confident on the roads but did not get my license as I did not need one.
At 23 I was struck by a seeding motorist as I crossed the street and lost all my confidence on the roads, not only walking any where near them but also al confidence in driving.
However my baby daughter was injured in the accident and following the accident she required three trips to appointments a week. For her I chose to bite my lip, get some driving lessons, and gain my driving. It took a long time to feel confident but it was necessary to gain my license and to drive.
When faced with a fear I use some of these tactics.
I visualise what it is I need to do and I practice visualisin it turning out just the way it should.
I fake it till I make it.
I read through all f the information I will need on the topic.
Don't worry about causing things like abottleneck in the traffic, just begin to do your driving out of prime times and in more quiet areas. Drive from home to the local shop and back.
Ask a confident driver to accompany you.
I know one of my greatest fears was that I might strike someone on the road and the other was that I would be involved in another accident and my daughter would be hurt more.. I did everything to ensure I didnt strike someone else on the road like slowing down arounf high use pedestrian areas, and followig all the rules of the road to the letter.
It took a long time and a really good driving coach to get me confident on the road but it was worth it.

Just realise that there are so many bl00dy i.diots on the roads that one more wont make a difference.
Then when you see you're not the biggest idiot on the roads you will become more confident, becoming a better driver and so on.
Maybe I'm being too optimistic, and by driving you will see that you infact are the biggest i.diot on the roads, in which case, sell your car and do the world a favour...

It happens with many people initially, so you dont need to feel it as only your problem. Its a natural phobia. You need to concentrate on driving rather than thinking of problems that may crop up sometime in the middle of the road. Just keep driving in your mind and dont worry. Would you leave the exam with a fear that you may fail. No na ? cultivate the same confidence.
You can drive too ! Good luck. Bye bye

u should'nt be afraid of driving....u should hav confidence in urself and ur driving but this does'nt mean that u should be over-confident coz under confidence and over confidence both r really dangerous
