I had braces for three years. It was either that or getting a surgry to have my jaw broken and put into the right place and still not hving straight teeth.
It was a bit uncomfortable for the first few weeks, but you definitely get used to them. I was very sad then they took mine off... I felt like they were just a part of me.
To take care of them, make sure you brush at least twice a day! If you let decay gather around the sides of your braces, when you get them taken off you'll have "imprints" of the braces on your teeth- they'll be yellow with white marks where your braces used to be! However, this is no problem as long as you take good care to clean carefully and frequently with a good quality toothbrush.
As for the end result? I very often get complimented on my straight, "perfect" teeth. I love them, they really are perfect, and I never would have been able to have that without my braces <3

I still have my braces on. I will have had them for a year on Wednesday! Honestly, mine haven't been a pain because my orthodontist has been really cool. The first day, he told me, you can chew gum and eat candy and do whatever, just wait until you've had your wire changed a couple of times. I just brush my teeth carefully and avoid purple things, like grape juice, and coffee. These things can stain under your braces. It's really not that different than not having braces. I mean does it hurt, yes it hurts a little some days, but its not a big deal. Good luck with getting your braces on!!

I got my braces in November. I was 17 and very angry. My parents thought that we were moving and didn't want to have to switch orthodontists, so we waited. Well, now I'm almost 18 (in 3 weeks!) and I have braces. My parents let me get the ceramic ones, so no one can tell. But I love them. They hurt my mouth sometimes...but I love them. I can tell they are straightening my teeth. I love going in to see what they will do next. My boyfriend thinks they are cute too, so that's good. But you know what? You probably have 24 months of them. They will be off soon enough, I can't believe I have 15 months left. It's awesome, I feel like I just got them on...It'll go by so fast.

It got annoying, but the results were perfect, just what i wanted. Just get in between them with a tooth pick, to get everything out. After you get your braces off, use crest white-strips, or something else to whiten your teeth, because it is hard to keep them looking good while having braces, and the crest white strips do a great job, Then from there just chew whitening gum and use whitening toothpaste, and you should be getting compliments from everyone on your teeth.

nah it wasnt that painful but it is different with everybody. the only thing that hurt was when they put this stretchy chain on my top braces, that really hurt! oh yeah and the first week of having them hurts too so eat softer foods. I got mine off a year ago and I like my results, my teeth before were HORRIBLE! lol I smile all of the time now =]

I got my braces on a couple weeks ago. They don't hurt to much its just that you have to get used to feeling something in your mouth. To take care of them you should brush your teeth in the morning and at night. I have to brush my teeth for 3 min. Good Luck!!

Well Honestly yes it was a pain! When you have to have them tightened it hurts for a day or so, But I liked the results. Just remember to brush more often then you normally would! Brush after every meal and before you go to bed. Good luck!

Yep, I had braces for three years. If you just brush your teeth in the morning and night, you will have beautiful teeth! There was a little pain and discomfort when they tightend them, but nothing advil can't take care of. You should be happy, your going to have a beautiful smile when they're off : )
