Right now I would say John Milton, a mathematician at the University at Stony Brook. It is by considered one of the greatest mathematicians to ever live and he is still kicking. He has the capability to do every field of mathematics and physics. He has made some of the biggest contributions to mathematics in recent years and that is in mutliple fields of mathematics. Even the best mathematicians in the world only effect one field and this man revolutionized mutliple fields. He also supposedly is capable of learning anything almost instantly and never forgets anything. I happened to be a mathematician so I am a big biased, but looking into his work and it's effect on present day mathematics is mind blowing and surpasses Descarte, Newton, and Godel.

Leonardo Da Vinci

(Not anyone religious like jesus or mohomed or any politician)

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519) was an immensely multi-talented Italian Renaissance Roman Catholic polymath: architect, anatomist, sculptor, engineer, inventor, geometer, musician and painter. He has been described as the archetype of the "Renaissance man" and as a universal genius, a man infinitely curious and infinitely inventive. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time.

Portrait in red chalk, circa 1512 to 1515, widely (though not universally) accepted as a genuine self-portrait.In his lifetime, Leonardo (he had no surname in the modern sense; "da Vinci" simply means "from Vinci") was an engineer, artist, anatomist, physiologist and much more. His full birth name was "Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci".

First of all, it's Stephen Hawking (not Hawkins)...

Second, it is difficult to even pinpoint the greatest genius as there are so many,

Whitman, Newton, Einstein, Hawking, Kepler, and da Vinci are just a few... there are many more and all made great contributions to man's understanding and culture.
