We should be careful and discriminating in all the advice we give. We should be especially careful in giving advice that we would not think of following ourselves. Most of all, we ought to avoid giving counsel which we don't follow when it damages those who take us at our word.


To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;

Even though I'm not a particularly religious person, I would still say the Bible. Not only the teachings of Jesus, but also portions of the Old Testament, such as Psalms, can help give you wisdom.

wisdom, possibly the bible, if you dont take it word for word as absoloute truth but a book written to demonstrate ways to act in society, I cant imagine another book that on its own can teach you more about the human condition
