Sit down, do some good budgeting, and put money in a separate account that is only for your habits. Make strict rules about what you can purchase with what account, and pretend that your shopping account is the only money you have.

The stuff you buy would not look good underneath a bridge when you're homeless, now would it?

Cut up your credit cards. Stay off internet shopping sites. Do not go to the mall or any stores. I have the same problem. I've found if it's not in front of me I won't think I need it and I won't buy it. I stay away from the mall. I am an ebay addict.

destroy your credit cards or put them in a safe deposit box.

You could try to freeze them in a block of ice so they are not readily available. If you use your cash, consider putting it into a savings account that requires 2 signatures. (if you are not married, you could have mom or dad as the other person)

Also, visit Oprah.com and check out the Debt Diet. Some good advice there!

Good Luck

Keep your credit card in the freezer & at home when shopping. That way if you really need to purchase something, you'll at least have to wait.

Steal rather than buy and you'll be a much happier person. If that doesn't work try genocide. It's more relaxing than you'd think.
