Paris, July 24th
This one is too easy, there are whole sections of Libraries devoted to that problem only.
A New Science was born when Durkheim studied the sociology of suicide.
But that does not worry me.
What worries me is “why do you ask the question”?
You thing about suicide?
As you know everyone of us has considered that option at least once in his life.
Is someone you love frightening you by his/her behavior?
If I have to be extremely brief, remember that suicide expresses nearly the greatest desire not to die.
I assume that you are aware of the curiosity that the suicide rate is by the lowest in the cancer community?
Please do not hesitate to amplify your question.
Paris, by a very hot day, too hot for my dog

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Some people just don't realise there are other people out there who will help them.
There are hundreds of people every day who call helplines, or go to a friend or a teacher, or someone they feel they can trust and get the help they need. Everyone has problems they feel they can't deal with. People who kill themselves over them are a small minority that could easily be saved if the organisations that have been set up to save them get proper publicity.
But then, there will always be exceptions to the rule who are just too tired to try to help themselves.
At the end of the day, when all's said and done, I suppose the only people who can really tell us why are the people who do it, and they aren't talking.
It's a hard question, and all your going to get in reply are people's opinions, but you never know, the answer may be in them somewhere. If you ever find out, let me know. I'd love to understand it.

Because they have given up hope of ever resolving their problems. They are looking for a permanent escape from feeling hurt and overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, people who commit suicide do not feel they have anyone to turn to to help them through their problems. They don't think anyone cares or understands.
If you or anyone out there is contemplating suicide, please seek medical attention immediately. Go to the hospital emergency room if you need to.
In most cases time suicide occurs after suffering from deep depression which is often the result of a brain chemical imbalance. A physician can provide treatment that can help the person to sleep better and bring the brain chemicals back into balance so that the person can begin to think more rationally and clearly discuss and confront the pain they are experiencing through therapy.
Others may attempt suicide out of fear, and desperation. It is so sad that someone is feeling so bad that they are willing to escape to the unknown "after life" (hell or heaven) rather than to face what they do know here on earth.
Everyone on earth is here to serve an important purpose. God never gives us anything too strong to deal with.
I hope you find this information helpful.

There are many things that could drive a peron to take thier own life. For instance: Bad childhoods, abuse, rejection, anger, hatred, revenge, and even simply wanting attention. Suicide isn't taken as seriously as it should be when people really want to die, because so often a boy comes who "cries wolf" that just wants to get the "glory." The odd thing is suicide seems to be glorified to so many as if it's so outrageous you'll leave a memory behind as someone cool, but dead. As if one were to rebel against the world and leave some kind of legacy.

The Dalai Lama says that avoiding pain is people's #1 motivation for doing or not doing something. I suspect suicide is an answer for some people to end some kind of mental suffering. But it's never the only solution.

Depression. While in depression, the patient has feelings of loneliness, weakness, etc. Clinical (major) depression comes with suicidal thoughts. If this psychological stage continues for a long time, then a suicide may occur.

Some people are pampered through their childhood, so they do not develop a survival instinct. When they reach their youth they realise how tough living is and succumb to the pressure.
But I personally feel there is no excuse for suicide as life is a gift by God and it should be respected.

most people these days commit suicide because they have a problem that seems nearly impossible for them to solve. in teens, its usually about love or family issues. over all, i think some people commit suicide because they think that there's nothing for them to live for...

Life is tough and a lot of people look at suicide as a way to rid themselves of hardships or things they are dealing with; Escape from reality is a big reason!

Because it is an evolutionary behavior that may have benefited our ancestors. It may be favorable for an individual to kill oneself if the fitness benefit to the group is greater.
Note that this ancestor may or may not be sentient.
fyi our own cells often sacrifice themselves for the greater good of the body. Many life forms including plants, bacteria, mammals also commit suicide depending on evironmental stimuli

Well it's generally due to a lack of understanding and failure to cope with the pressures of life. When you realise that what ever problem you're facing is not unique to you and that it has been faced by millions of others before you and when you realise the sanctitiy of life and that HOPE IS ONLY FOR THE LIVING you'll never give in to suicidal thoughts!
