Bakelite was used on post and pans and also used in the old
electrical appliances such as for some of the plugs. I think it
has since been replaced by more modern plastic compounds.

bakelite is used for making handles of pans and pots because it is a thermal insulator.

in older stuff yes, in newer stuff no. they're going to plastic and other insulators
