5 years ago, I found out I have polycystic ovary syndrome/disease (PCOS/D). The symptoms didn't really start appearing until during the last 2 years. These symptoms include facial area (& if i did't use Nair, I'd have a beard & mustache), chest hair, abdominal hair, EXTREMELY bad cramping before & during my menstrual cycle, & weight gain, among others. My husband and I have been trying to conceive so my doc put me on an estrogen therapy drug. For the last 6 months, I have gotten my menstrual cycle around the same day every month. This month, however, I didn't get it. It's over a week late. Should I take a pregnancy test or wait a little longer?? I should also mention that my husband has a low sperm count and his body does not produce enuf testosterone (I think mine's making up for what he doesn't make, go figure!) Thanks

I have PCOS also (luckily I don't have the extremely bad hair situation like you, but I do have some). You should be on Metformin if you are Insulin Resistant (IR) & you should be on Clomid to help you ovulate. Are you seeing a RE (Reproductive Endocronoligst) or a regular OBGYN?? I use to see OBGYN's but then found out a RE would be so much better & it has been.

Good luck!!

Yes, PCOS can cause numerous things. Has your doctor considered putting you on Metformin and Clomid to conceive? Sometimes artificial insemination is needed if your husband has a low sperm count (it will raise your chances) and many insurances will pay for this.

Yes, I have pcos and never did have periods without help. I did get pregnant with clomid. You should probably go see your doctor if you did not have a period this time around. Good luck!!

Oh, I feel for you, I have it as well. When we realized we wouldn't have any more children (we are fortunate to have one), it was difficult to accept. We decided not to take extraordinary measures to conceive, if it didn't happen naturally. Are you seeing a gynecologist and are you on any medication, such as metformin, for the PCOS?
