heat is used for LOTS of things. It can be used for drying, or it can be used to speed up the process of a certain task. In other words, in a chemical process, it causes the molecules to move faster.

1. Making electricity (most of the ways we make energy involve burning something or heating up water to make steam which turns a turbine, blah, blah, blah, you have electricity).
2. Keeping warm in the winter.

Heat is a form of energy. Use on cooking, increase of temperature when required, melting of metals, drying your laundries, heal pains;etc.
