I love BT. I would consider them seriously. They are ALWAYS there to attend to any problem. I started out with 2Mb broadband and upgraded it to 8 Mb (well, 5 Mb really because my land line can only carry 5 Mb) but the difference in speed is FANTASTIC... we are talking about 10 secs to download 8 Mb files !!! --- I estimate that it is something like 1 Mb a second.
I download LARGE files from the internet (nothing illegal, no music nor films) and they are frequently 10, 15 or more Mb in size.... and I think I timed 30 secs for a 24 Mb file to download.
Sorry, returning to your question, BT have been impeccable with their service. Nothing seems to go wrong with their service. Furthermore, remember that their hardware is considered by most including professionals to be TOP QUALITY -- no made In China stuff !!
I was with AOL for a year a couple of years ago and I had very little problems with them... but I just feel that BT is in Europe and so I went for them this time. Advantage of AOL over BT ? The download limit -- it is UNlimited with AOL and my service is limited to 25GB... Is tat really a disadvantage ? Not really, I seldom exceed 10 so 25 is plenty. Remember though that everything depends on your LAND LINE AND HOW MUCH IT CAN CARRY. My 8 Mb broadband is in effect only 5Mb because my land line can only carry 5
I hope this helps you chose the best service for you.
