I agree with "Sgoldperson" the most.
I'm sure the Yankees would consider it but to who???????
JUST BECAUSE A PLAYER IS A GREAT PLAYER DOESN'T MEAN HE WILL FIT WELL WITH THE TEAM. LIKE THE GREAT HERB BROOKS ONCE SAID "I'M NOT LOOKING FOR THE BEST PLAYERS, I'M LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT PLAYERS." I believe A-rod is an example, a great player who does not fit well with the Yankees.
As for ESPN, i don't know what I'll do without ESPN. My tv is always on ESPN. I can't imagine life without ESPN.

ESPN is a great channel, the absolute best at what they do. However, it is absurd to think the Yanks would trade A-Rod. Sometimes I think they just come up with these ridiculous stories and rumors to keep the interest and set up debates.
A-Rod should go accept his future in the beverage business and go work w/ Pepsi

ESPN stinks!!!Like I was told yesterday by a very loyal and diehard Yankee fan, A-Rod has hit probably his low time career low, hes in a slump.I'm by far not a Yankee fan but it disturbs me to see some of the fans act the way they do.Its ridiculous, and immature.A-Rod by no means should be expected to carry that team on his back, and the fans expect him to do just that, that and the fact of how much money he makes.Who cares, you will see some of the greatest ball players go through what Alex is going through right now.Like my fiance said if he knew A-Rod was not trying his best, he would be mad, but he knows hes going out their every day and giving his all.

The more people keep talking about it, the more likely it is to happen. I personally think it would be a bad move on the Yankees part to trade him. But even just this morning I read an article on chicagotribune.com talking about the possibility of A-Rod wearing a Cubs uniform. The NY 'boo birds' better lay off of Alex unless they really want to see their superstar haunt them for years to come.

The guy was awesome last year and very likely has several more awesome years in him. He's productive, doesn't make a big stink which is so easy to do in NY. Likely to end up being considered the best 3b to every play. Most likely he'll snap out of his funk but an A-Rod funk is more productive than most teams 3b's career year.
A-Rod is also one of the few Yankees starters under 35. He is signed to a long term contract and is good friends with team captain Jeter.
The Yankees are run by Stienbrenner and he's taken the control way from Cashman who helped engineer the Yankees dynasty. In fact it was likely purely Stienbrenner who wanted A-Rod in the first place. The Yanks didn't need offense and already had an insane salary before A-Rod.
The Yankees need pitching. They have collected a number of vets who are not getting the job done. Without Mussina and Wang the staff is pretty miserable. Paveno going down for the whole season hurt out the gate. Chacon was a disapointment. A bit disapointment, the guy actually has a higher ERA than he ever did with the Rockies. Wright was one of those has a good year once and everybody wants to sign him like that is his norm. Wright came up with alot of potential but never lived up too it until he was almost out of baseball. When the Braves got him in 04 he'd been bounced into the bullpen and was at risk of bouncing right on into the minors. Wright also has a long injury history. He's the kind of guy you grab for cheap for a 5th starter and hope he can equal or best his best year. So right out of the gate the Yanks were hurting with SP. Johnson's struggles just make it all the worse.
Now lets consider Stienbrenner, likely the one who forced Wright on Cashman. Remember Wright had his ONE good year the year before and that's a typical Stienbrenner frame of mind. Year after year he's signed guys based solely on one season's performance. Often over the objectsion of the GM at the time.
Stienbrenner is hopping mad. The Yankees have been overpaid bums the last few years. Mostly because they've signed who was hot the year before not who is going to be hot. Sheffield was a pleasent surprise most of his Yankees career. This years injury was long overdue actually if you look at Sheffield's career. That the Yankees are EVEN CONSIDERING Sanders is a sign that Cashman is on the outs and Stienbrenner is running the show. Sanders is a Stienbrenner kind of player. Flashy but one dimensional. For some reason Stienbrenner loves those kinds of players. Vlad is a great player, one of the better hitters in baseball but he's also old and coming into injury risk terrirotory. With his current salary and age I wouldn't touch him if I were the Yankees. The Mets have room and will probably wind up with Vlad. He'd be a big help to them as well.
So yes the Yanks are probably stupid enough to deal A-Rod at Stienbrenner's insistance for some over the hill or flashy player. The Yankees will almost certainly have to pay part of A-Rod's salary to get the deal done. They will almost certainly get ripped off in the trade and A-Rod will go on to have some of his best years at the Yankee's expense.
A-Rod's biggest problem as a Yankee seems to be he's quiet. He just plays great baseball. Prior to being a Yankee he was sometimes trouble in the clubhouse because of comments made to the press. Somehow I think Stienbrenner misses all that spectacle. Misses the Bronx zoo. Winning sure doesn't seem to be Stienbrenner's goal. Cashman helped found a team that could still be the easy favorite for each years WS. They hit a bump with some good ideas that didn't work out. Jeff Weaver for example had every sign of turning into an awesome pitcher. Here he was pitching great for a horrible Tigers team. Get him in pinstripes and he forgets how to pitch and hasn't had a decent year since. Rivera blew a crucial save in the WS. As many times as Rivera had come through he'd already defied odds again and again and again. He picked a really bad time to be human. Those two factors opened the door for Stienbrennerism to come in and they've been pouring in. Sheffield statistically should have been a huge expensive failure. The guy was on the verge of retirement when all of a sudden he could stay healthy and has had easily his best years at an age when most players are already retired. Pure luck that finally ran out this year. Giambi was a good bet but 2 miserable years and less than stellar years since have made that a big mistake. The rest of the team has just gotten old and newcomers are as old as the vets. A great recipe for a team in decline. Also a great opening for Stienbrenner to get Sanders quality players. The Yanks won't win many games but they'll make lots of headlines if they fill the team with Sanders and players like him.

If they trade A-Rod the yanks will doom themselves to the Curse of the A-Rod .... Just like the Red Sox did for 100+ years with the curse of the Bambino, shame on all yankee fans for being so unsupportive of their players. No wonder they can't win it anymore.

They won't trade him now, but they'll listen to offers in the offseason. A-Rod is fed up with the New York media and I wouldn't be surprised if he asked for a trade.

I don't know if they will, but they should. He's been a bad fit in New York ever since day one when Jeter refused to let the better defensive shortstop stay at his natural position. This obviously bothered ARod, and he's still not gotten over it. The best thing for everyone would be a new start somewhere else.

Do you think the Yanks would take Eckstein and Jason Marquis for A-Rod? :)
I agree, the Yanks would be foolish to trade A-Rod. But I'd love to see him as the Cardinals shortstop and cleanup hitter.
