Why is continuity a good thing in sculpture?

I mean, like what ideas are trying to b expressed through continuity?

Without continuity, your sculptures can easily lose your viewer's interest, since their eye may wander away if there is nothing there to lead them where to look next. Viewers have to be pointed in the right direction.

Also, continuity can express the passage of time, gentle change, grandiosity, humility, and a whole range of other emotions. Generally, negative or volatile emotions will have less continuity, since they are usually more spontaneous. For example,. anger may have less continuity than happiness. This is all very general, though, since continuity can mean many, many things.
