boils are an area where a bacterial infection has gone under the skin. It produces a raised area. If the bacteria makes it into the blood, you can get septicemia and that is not good for you! If you have a boil, get to a doctor and have it seen to.

how you can get them has been covered and what can happen if it gets into the blood stream is what is known as Sepsis or Blood Poisoning.. this can lead to meningitis and death. they should be drained, ask a doctor, sometimes they have to do a D&E (drain and excision) depending on the depth, and sometimes it's as simple as puting a warm moist compress on it 4 or 5 times a day and allow it to drain by itself.. either way, if you develop a fever or severe swelling and redness at the site, it should be seen by a doctor. Hope this help!
