I lived in the US for a year back in 1994, loved the country, and all the friendly people I met over there. I'm sad to see Bush dragging the USAs name through the mud, I only hope that the next president can turn things around and bring the US back onto the moral highground. My question, were things worse with Nixon?

Why would I be jealous? As the worlds superpower, I want to see the US as a bastion of freedom and fairness, and setting a good example. I don't see Bush doing this however (he's doing the opposite in fact).

Your question should have been, which was the greatest failure...Carter or Clinton? Worst administrations in modern American history.

what kind of image do you mean?
USA was always representing a big, wealthy, strong, arrogant or blockhead something. It was never a nice, lovely, friendly or peaceful image. Did anyone damage this image?
Not really, only the image of wealthy is suffering a lot. But that's the pain-in-the-***-decease of the whole rich west (industry) countries. About powerful, um... still yes... but somehow their own *small* people seem to suffer due to the power exposure.
And the image of blockhead... is stronger then ever before.
Damaged image? Yes! But just a Little.
Who? All of them!

Nixon was alot like Clinton, he did alot of good and was overall a president who looked out for people but he screwed it up with that one huge mistake that messed up our image as perfect. Bush has made the U.S look strong on defense but after Iraq, we look very bad in foreigners eyes even though alot of them have just kinda looked for an excuse to hate us. I think Bush has made us look alot less appealing in other countries eyes. I used to like Bush but he sorta lost my support, nice guy but not so good president. I've moved to being a moderate democrat now.

Hmmmm...picking only the Republicans? why is that? do you realize that the one president that did the worst for us in this time, that you mention, was Clinton.....he would go in, and then run....it gave the USA a look of cowards....that is why this is going on so long......Bush has told the world what he will do, and he is striving to do it as planned.....the world will respect the USA more for keeping their word, than to say they will, and then only do a half a$$ed job, and leave.......lasltly, Bush has freed 50,000,000 people from the tieriny of their governements.....he si doing exactly what you say we should be doing, and protecting the oppressed....

If you really want to know which president(s) have done worst for and/or by the USA, try Carter and Clinton.
One didn't have a clue, the other didn't have any morals. They didn't have to be concerned about image. They were democrats.

Neither. That honor belongs to Jimmy Carter. We are still feeling the ripple effects of his mismanagement of our country. If he had taken a stand during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979, none of what's going on now would be going on.

The only one that did any good in recent times was Clinton. Despite the cigars.
Generally, American politics seems too dependant on wealth.

I don't really care what non-Americans think about the U.S. The dislike is more than likely fueled by jealousy.
