Wow, so many dumb answers. I'm sure you know that the snake will be no threat whatsoever to your dog. However, your dog may have an impact on your snake and cause a considerable amount of stress. Royals are nocturnal so most of the time your Royal will be in his hide and won't notice your dog running around. Your cage should be secure enough to prevent your dog from hitting with his paws or jumping on. Occasional barking shouldn't be a problem, but if your snake is out try to keep your dog out of the room. Sudden movements from your dog could scare your snake and cause it to strike out at your dog or just get stressed. Royals are particularly prone to stress and may stop eating if you are unable to provide a calm, comfortable environment.

There is nothing dumb about washing the smell of a live animal off your hands before you feed or handle a snake.
If you feed the snake chicken but you have the scent of dog on you, the snake can come to associate the scent with being fed.
You wouldn't handle chicken before you handle your snake in case of misunderstandings, the advice you were given was correct. Wash your hands.

It depends entirely on the dog. My dog finds watching all our critters (snakes, mice, rats, spiders) in their habitats absolutely fascinating. That said, I have no idea what you intended to spell when you typed "boystious" so I'm not sure what your dog's personality is like and whether he is aggressive toward other animals.
