a lot of people are mean and like to make fun of people to make themselves feel better about the things they do not like about themsleves. if you feel more comfortable telling people your name is Lin, then by all means do so.

Change your Legal name to lynn or lin or whatever this way you havent really changed your name "everybody already know you as lin" and no fun will be made any more

lin is good at least ur lucky u can get a name out of ur name i cant come up with any nicknames for my self out of my name

you can go to court and petition for a change of name. in the meantime, you can always introduce yourself as lin.
