My mom made me get a summer job so that i would have my own money, and i recently got a job pushing carts at a crap *** Smiths store for 5.50 an hour here in Las Vegas. The staff is horrible and i am constantly getting hit on by homeless men, perverts, and old men that hang around outside the store. I am in desperate need of finding a new job because bagging groceries, cleaning toilets, and pushing carts in 110 degree heat is basically slave labor for that much money. But i need a new job before i can quit. Does anyone have any ideas for maybe another job that a teen can apply at? Im 17.

First of all let me say that i am NOT spoiled, rude, OR have an attitude. I have NEVER given any one greif, talked back, whined, or been dissrespectful to anyone. I know when i am being taken advantage of even if i am only 17. And for your information oh so sarcastic chick with the stick up your delusional ***, i have been working to help my mom for the past 3 years while giving her my whole check with no complaining. So how dare you make an assinine assumption about me like that. Its people like you that i cant stand when im a just trying to be a good person and do better for myself. You are CERTAINLY no better than me and im am not just a "kid", no person should have to do that job for that much money. So you can go right ahead and kiss my ***. YOU are the one thats disgusting.

Not much summer left, but you could work at a mall, restaraunt, bar (not bartender though), etc. You could get some experience doing secretarial work at some kind of business if you were into that. Just look around - good jobs are out there. I work at a hotel right now... I'm at work now. See how fun my job is?

Sounds like you should be working right where you are at. You have many lessons to learn.

1. You are uneducated and have no skills whatsoever - thus are not really even worth the 5.50 an hour you are getting.

2. Nobody really cares if it is hot outside - you are a kid - get over yourself.

3. Your mother finally is pushing you to grow up - give her a big hug for still caring about you - you sound disgustingly spoiled.

4. The staff isn't horrible - they are having to deal with a spoiled rotten kid with an attitude - get over yourself - you are in the wrong, and in need of learning HOW to become a decent employee.

PS....in reply to your additional comments....

5. Yes dear - you desperately need to keep this job, learn to be respectful of others, and understand that you are SUPPOSED to be helping mother out at home. These are just the minimum requirements to be a good citizen and neighbor.

6. Please work on your language - you will be a detriment to any place of employment, or social function as it is now. Your language strongly suggests a lack of respect for yourself and others around you. It will not take you far in life.

7. Minimum wage is 5.15 hr in most places. Your job is one that a person with mental retardation can handle. It requires no skills - not even the ability to read or write. It is designed for those with absolutely no experience in anything at all. That fact that you are making more than minimum wage - for the most minimal of jobs - suggest that you are overpaid, not underpaid. However, I am not suggesting you are of low intelligence at all.

8. Sorry dear - I am sure you are not a horrible person at all, just spoiled rotten kid. Take a look at how you started the question....."My mom made me get a summer job"......"crap *** Smiths store "...."bagging groceries, cleaning toilets, and pushing carts" = "slave labor"......YES, you do sound very spoiled to me.

This post is not and was not meant as a "slam" - it is meant to make you "think" about you situation. It doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks on-line. Perhaps you should print this out and view it when not angry and see if you do not see yourself from someone else's point of view.

When having problems in life - always ask yourself one question "What have I done to contribute to this problem before me"....it helps. Believe me - I know. I was a kid once too.

I used to work in a video shop when I was a kid it was great. All you need is a reasonable knowledge of movies some places don't even care about that. But it is great when the day is slow you watch movies.
