I am curious as to where you live - because where I am the ticket prices stay the same no matter what time of the year it is. I know that in different states, the prices are different (to accomadate cost of living in each area).

I would hazzard a guess at the simple laws of supply and demand. if you take oil as an example, when there is a high demand for oil you will notice that the price for fuel goes up, conversly when there is an over supply of oil the price falls. So in conclusion if the cinemas have a certain number of tickets and can easily sell them all the price will go up and when the schools go back they hace a surplus of tickets hence the prices fall.
i hope this answer was long enpugh and manages to answer your question.

When school holidays are on the theatres show a lot of children's/teenager films. They don't just go to see one film but many over the holidays, and make their parents take them if they are too young to go themselves. This is a good money making time as the theatres also sell a lot of chocolates, popcorn and icecream as well. They do not have cut price tickets at that time. When school resumes the number of people going to see a film drops dramatically so to entice people to go the ticket prices drop or they have special coke or popcorn deals to get you there.

I don't know where you live, but where I am.. and all around me the ticket prices are the same all year long no matter what. It's always 10$ for adults, and 7.50$ for kids and seniors.. they don't change.
