ok..i'm looking for opinions here....
my brother has a wound around his ankle from a boot he used to wear...it's really gross looking and the bandage he wears on it keeps turning black..he keeps using a scalpel to scrape out the thing, and when he does he scrapes out these pod like likes..they are beige and are shaped liked peas..they're hard...when he pulls them out the area he removed it from fills with blood and then starts to heal up...so my question is...WHAT the HECK are the pod like things? any thoughts? i'd appreciate it..i've been searching the net and can't found out anything...he won't go to a doctor either, so i'm trying to find out what they are so I can come up with a home remedy..he's had this going on for quite awhile now...

they aren't skin tags. I know what those look like. He won't go to a doctor either, i've begged him. It doesn't look like gangrene though either, I've seen that before to. I appreciate all your answers though.

Hey....you're brother is reinfection his foot and might be excising new skin that is trying to grow. He NEEDS to get to a doc before he loses his leg. Encourage him to go because he's messing with something beyond his knowledge. I'm a retired nurse and I wouldn't fool with that unless I had the guy see a doctor first. Doctor? or lose your leg? That's his choice.

Pardon me for saying but your brother is a masochist and a fool. He could likely be healed by now, instead of going through poor self-treatment. Permanent damage could be done by him refusing to get proper medical attention, especially if something is occuring and neither of you know what it is or why.
Do you perhaps have a friend or acquaintance who is in the medical field? If so, see if they'll take a look at it..maybe they can talk some sense into him.

I wish I knew.Tell your brother to get to a doctor ASAP.He maybe at risk of gangrene around his foot

I think your talking about skin tags. Otherwise its a type of parasite.

it is probably gangrene and he will lose his foot eventually
