I have recently downloaded a free avp fro the internet. There is another old avp on my computer. Would the two conflict and slow the computer down?

Perhaps.

AVG and AntiVir Guard work together.

the rule of thumb is that you can have 1 anti-virus program and up to 4 anti-spy programs on your p.c
there is no reason for you to have 2 anti-virus,it wont work better, infact it will slow down your p.c and cause conflicts
uninstall your old avp in control panel>add/remove programs....restart p.c and then install your new avp
good luck

It is not recommended to install 2 anti-virus programs on a PC. This definitley have a conflict and slows down the PC which may put you in problems with the PC.

very likely; use only one antivirus at a time as resident protection on both can cause problems. Another option is to download Bitdefender 8 Free edition and use it as an on-demand scanner since the free version does not have resident protection enabled

yeah could do, only use the one that u want! if one is norton it will slow computer down anyway, and will possibly conflict with the other, and u still get the sneaky virus through, i just changed mine.

Why you need 2 antivir apps on your PC? Leave the newest and remove the old one.

Don`t run two antivirus together it will harm your PC, disable one of them (you only need one).
You only need one antivirus, one firewall.
You can have as many antispyware as you want :-)
