If you/someone is existing, they are merely taking up space, not contributing, doing, or thriving. When someone is living, they are not taking no for an answer, seeking out their dreams, contributing to society, giving of themselves to others, and making a mark on others in a positive way.

Everything you can see, feel, smell, and hear exists. Rocks, the wind, buildings, and oceans, and mountains all exist. Plants and animals both exist and live. They exist because they have shape and form, and because they can be seem and touched. They live because they are born, our sprout from a seed, they require food, and water, and air to survive, they are at least capable of reproduction, and they die.
Hope that's what you're looking for.

To exist is to be made of matter - at least in the physical sense. My desk is sold, and it is made of matter. It can physically be experienced by one of the 5 senses.
To live is to consume, process, reproduce, and defecate. To use processes only found in things alive.
