I feel that you get more in life by hard work. I am a fine example of that. I had some issues that caused me to have to go on disability. I was getting a small amount of money every month to help cover my rent and basic bills but I had to do nothing for that money-- just the fact that I was disabled seemed to "entitle" me to that money. My life was miserable.

Finally, one day I woke up and realized how miserable life was (barely eating due to being so poor, etc.) and so I moved 1200 miles away from where I was born and raised, got a job, and started to attend a University. I work full time, attend school full time and am alway run down, BUT I am much wiser now, have more friends than ever before, rent a nice townhouse, and have plenty to eat. I am saving now for a house.

My hard work is paying off, and eventually I will have a house and a family of my own. I will have the "American Dream", and all because one day I woke up and realized that without hard work, I had nothing.

Hard work has helped also to improve my self esteem as well as my will to survive and better myself. The money I earn working, I spend wisely because it is very hard earned money, and when I buy things (such as when I had bought a new TV set after 10 years of having an old small 19 inch TV), I realize how fortunate I am, and now every time I watch TV (when time permits), I see a TV which I EARNED, and which has my blood sweat and tears put into it.

I want the finer things in life. I want a good life. But without hard work, I will never have it.

Hard work, I can understand from anyone's point of view... It takes dedication and education in order to succeed.

Now, why you focused on Indians, is beyond me, as everyone who doesnt "reach for a goal", is going to be left behind, looking at those who did, and become mean and spiteful because they didnt have the "want and desire" to attain it.

Luck has nothing to do with it. If your qualified, then you should get the job, pure and simple!

If I am a businessman, and I want to hire some one, I am going to hire the BEST I can, in order to get my goals accimplished. I will NOT let the Government tell me that I have to hire "substandard" help, who dont know a thing about my business, and arent willing to learn and work, but must be given a job because they are a "minority"...

No Sireee... it just aint gonna happen!

I wish you well..

Jesse

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Take for example these two proverbs:
1) The early bird gets the worm.
It means that if you work harder than everyone else, you'll get what you want.
2) The second mouse gets the cheese in the trap.
It means that sometimes you just have to get lucky enough to not go too far and make a mistake.

All in all, be prepared for the worst and expect the best.

Hard work will give you consistent gains, luck will give you the occasional break, if you're lucky. In reality, what most people attribute to luck is usually the result pf hard work and determination.

However, that's not to say that working hard will make you successful, you have to work smart as well.

I would say hard work to suceed in life, because that is the only way to learn, luck will not always be there.

There is a very high probability that hard work will be rewarded. There is a very small chance that luck (and wealth) will just come your way. So the laws of prabability tell it all. I hope you find peace in hard work.

Hard work alone is called good luck. If you are not lucky you can not put hard work. To put hard work luck must favour you. God helps those, who help themselves.

Work hard, with no craving for the result. Let not Zaheer feel let down. While sweating out, let him enjoy himself. No hard work goes unrewarded.
