The Metal Gear Solid franchise
Action and amazing fantasy set against a highly-detailed, heavily-researched historical background, with lots of interesting true-life facts, mind-blowing plots and twists, with a slight spark of humor.
Also, there is always a very serious moral contemplation of the world we live in that leaves you thinking long after you've stopped playing
Truely a cinematic experience
(Personally: MGS 3 is the only game that's ever gotten me all misty-eyed and had me applauding at the end)
