should i get a psp or a ps2?

i have 1000 bucks i will save the rest so what should i get, also what games should i get.

I'd say get the PSP, since it's newer.... can take it anywhere...... PS2's about to be replaced. You can always buy a PS3 for it later to keep it company.

For games, it's hard to tell without knowing what sort of games you prefer..... and I'm saving up for a PSP myself to keep my Nintendo DS company (they're good too ya know)... so I suggest hopping over to http://gamespot.com and reading the reviews there.
But currently on my shortlist are
- Gran Turismo 4: Mobile Edition
- F1 Grand Prix
- Ghostbusters (UMD movie disk)
- Colin McRae Rally 2005 (though already got it on Nokia N-Gage)

Don't forget you may need an extra memorystick

If you go for the PS2 instead of / as well as the PSP, I'd suggest from experience of owning one since 2001
- Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
- Gran Turismo 4 (might be able to afford it myself eventually)
- The Simpsons: Hit & Run (got the gamecube version
- NBA Street (been fiddling with the demo for years)
- Gran Theft Auto: San Andreas (not played, but got a 9.6 rating)

Don't forget you'll need a couple of memorycards too, to save games if you want to get anywhere with them.

well they both have their good sides and their bad sides.
First. A psp is mobile, you can play your media files on it. and you can store pics on it. you can also, if you have homebrew, play emulators on it if you get an old version of Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. but the problem is if you dont really like old school games then you wont really like the selection of games you have left for psp. Psp doesnt have that many games so its selection is very limited
Games for psp: I dont really have any games for psp, i just got my psp. the only games that i have played is GTA Liberty City Stories and Untold Ledgend: Brotherhood of the Sword. which they both have their good sides.

second. a ps2 is very veristile. you can play music on it, movies, ps1 games on it and its own ps2 games. you have a greater selection of what you can do with a ps2. the only problems about ps2 is, you cant take it anywhere, and you cant really play emulators unless you can find a program and disk that can be read off of the ps2.
Games for ps2: if you like a Rpg you can always get Final Fantasy 10 or get Wild Arms 3. they are both great rpgs.
for sports i personally like Fight Night Round 3 and Maden 06.
there are alot of games out there for the ps2 since you can even play ps1 games on it so you do have a great selection.

i actually have both. but since you are trying to save the rest of the money after you buy one of them then i understand. i personally would tell you to get a ps2 but if you really like old school games then i would tell you go for the portable.
