i have a very nice car that i would like to turn into a street race car. i however lack the funds to do so by myself, and would like to know how to get factory sponsors for my car.

Check out some Tuner magazine sites online. They might just have what you need. Don't hold me to it but I think these are some who might be able to send you in the right direction. Hope you get sponsored.

You need to go out and find sponsors. Go to different parts stores (not the big chains) and different businesses and try to sell them on the idea of being a sponsor. Explain to them what exactly they will get for their money and how they can benefit from it. i.e.-public exposure for their name.
