Downtown!
It's the only thing close to urban living and you have access to everything, without it being a huge metropolis downtown.
You in the middle of all this:
- YaleTown
- Stanley Park
- English Bay
- Sea Wall (very long sea wall)
- GasTown
Someone said Surrey? Doesn't it have the highest crime per capita in BC?

I've never lived in Canada, but I have travelled it for quite some time. Vancouver Island is great to live on, a bit more north would be my personal idea of excellent. But then... I travelled the Yukon a while as well and I must say that was eally great too. Living there would be harder to me personally though, due to the winters. But I think near White Horse (and from there to the coast) it isn't all too bad.

I say stay away from the north shore it rains too much near the mountains and the bridges are awful to travel during rush hour, Whiterock,South Surrey and Cloverdale are nice and get more hours of sunshine then the rest of Vancouver

well the nicest neighbourhoods are Kits, False Creek, Denman Area, Shaughnessy, the UBC endowment lands, yale town and point grey. But those are also the most expensive places. You would need around 1 million CDN for a fixer-upper. Start saving your pennies!!!

Salt Spring Island....I have been there, and it is paradise....otherwise, on the island of Vancouver, Victoria is not too bad of a place.
