The creator/writer was interviewed in a magazine and said the reason Meg is hated and/or ignored is because he didn't have a clue what teenage girls are all about (he doesn't understand them; has no clue what they talk about; etc.).

I dont know, its so sad. but yet soo funny. Hahaha i luv that show. Espically the episode were robers come into their house, and peter takes them into the "panic room" and then sends Meg to get food. And the robbers find her and r all like, "we have ur son." and then louis is all like "Megs r daugther," and then the robbers write a sign like, "really" lol hahaha. Yah its pretty obviouse i watch that show to much lol.

I always feel so sorry for her... I was so going to say that same episode is my fav....I like at the end when Joe is like "your daughter is a sexual preditor" and the family keeps talking, ignoring him and then Joe says "take her away boys" and Peter is like "have fun at the dance meg! she deserves that." LOL man I watch it too much...
