Because LiveUpdate is (supposedly) running, I can't
1 disable it
2 delete it
3 uninstall Norton
and LU certainly hasn't updated AV definitions for ages.
I really want to bin the suite and start again.
Help!!

i'm having an analogous issue with the ok icon no longer appearing in google seek, each little thing else seems to be working however, hoping to stumble on an answer too. Yeah, I observed that too yet did no longer click. The the guy that replied after me, I by no capacity had this issue in the previous with Norton and that i've got been using them for 4 years. First time this has occurred.

Delete the damn thing, it's nothing but a nuisance. C:/Program Files/Norton delete the whole folder, then when you start up you will get error messages telling you it can't load stuff. Select 'Run' from the start menu and type regedit, hit enter and remove all the references to Symantec or Norton. This should take you about 3 weeks, it's a nightmare. Alternatively, after deleting the folder, run something like System Mechanic or SystemSuite and they will do the repairs for you. Good luck

try http://www.majorgeeks.com

look for s symantec removal tool by the name SymRt
tool. it should remove all norton program safety. at the same time look for also a window removal tool for any softwares installed through window. with these two, you will avoid problem of leaving any pieces of the program
behind.

then start> control panel > add & remove program ..
to see whether all relevant programs have been rightly removed. run other accessories to clean up yr computer.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
