Dream catchers are a pretty thing to look at.
What they are supposed to do, I have no idea, as I dont follow Indian folk lore, (Catch dreams? Make them come true? Make you dream more? What?).
My Son has two of them over his bed, as he is into bears and wolves and things like that, (room is decorated nicely by my wife), so, to each his own...
I wish you well..

I do.
A Quote from: Native Circle RED EARTH
"Spirit and Truth. Elders teach that this is Creator's way. That all creation contains this duality - the 'unseen' and the 'seen'.... That all physical objects possess a spiritual force. This is true of the ancient Dreamcatcher as well. This beautiful object, without the prayers and spirit that go into it, is simply that - a beautiful object. It is when prayers and spirit are added that the power of the Dreamcatcher comes to life. Grandmothers traditionally weaved a small Dreamcatcher to hang on the cradleboard of a child. They were made with prayers that the web would catch bad reams, while allowing good dreams to pass through the hole in the center. The good dreams then fill the child with strong visions for the future, and for life.... "

I used to own lots of dream catchers, had them all hanging about my bed around the pillow area. They're meant to catch the nightmares and only let the dream filter through. The problem I had was that having so many dreamcatchers; they were only filtering through the nightmares and not the dreams and had very restless sleep. So be aware, only use one that you really, really like, or one you have made yourself.
Before use, the dream catcher is often cleansed in a ceremony of purification by passing them through the smoke of smoldering sage--the sage ceremony. Sometimes, if the dream catcher is not in a well-lit room, it becomes overloaded with energies that need to be cleared. For us, each breath is a prayer and so each dream catcher is woven with the energies of love and blessing.
Further and more detailed information is at the website below:
Also a quick note if you're having trouble sleeping, try and use calming colours within the bedroom. Reds and Yellows are restless and energy colours, try using Greens and Blues, or Whites and Purples.

Dream Catchers are an ancient spiritual
tool used to help assure good dreams to those that sleep under
them. A dream catcher is usually placed over a place you would
sleep where the morning light can hit it. As you sleep all dreams
from the spirit world have to pass through the dream catcher.
Only good dreams can pass through the hole in the center while
the bad dreams are caught in the webbing and are destroyed by
the morning light.

I have had mine for a few months now and I cannot remember having any bad dreams since I hung it over my bed. So for me, yes it does work. Will they work for everyone, probably not. Something like that works best for the person who believes that it will work for them.

It's about belief/faith. An American friend showed me how to make them, so I make them in different colours and with different themes to suit the person I am giving them too, its a fun and novel gift. I can't believe how expensive they are in the shops.
I have one over my bed, still get the occassional bad dream, but not as many, hope it works for you.

I don`t have any,so I can`t really comment on their worth, but I once met an old native north american indian, she had a large stock of them, but sold so many for such an inflated price, that she had now bought her third home in Florida, and was pilotting
her personal jet to her main supplier, who happened to be chinese.

I do, mine's supposed to let the good dreams filter through, and the nightmares get caught on the web and are burned by the beads. It works.
