let me see, it has been a long time ago, i have never had an iPod thing, i just recently got a mp3 player thing, but the only thing i do with it is play CDs,
i first hand held musical device was a transistor radio, am only, with only one ear plug on the wire which connected to the transistor and when we got the FM one we thought it was the best thing in the world.
oh yeah! i must not forget about the 8 trac player my brother had, the tapes were as big as the device they played in.
when i got my first tape recorder, WOW!, i was able to record music off the radio station, but no one could make any noise while recording otherwise they would have been recorded.
my parents had a stereo system, which had a record player, am FM radio, and 8 trac player on it. it was as big as the TV
i hope this answered you question, i just had to go so far back to remember my first transistor radio. i got my first transistor in the late 60's or early 70's.

I really doubt it's been that long...
But the Nano is a really good On-The-Go iPod.
Although all my music wouldn't fit on it.
Overall, i say Video iPod.

"growing up"?? They haven't even been around for a decade! I don't have an ipod because they are ridiculously overpriced and overrated. I've got me an old-fashioned CD player! Do you know what that is, or are they totally obsolete in your world?

since I was born in 1981, my first "ipod" was a cassette player, called a "walkman"...then I had a "discman" and now I have an ipod...well, actually it's a sony mp3 player, also called a sony walkman...so I've come full circle.

When i was growing up we didn't even have *music*, let alone electricity. The best we could do was bang two rocks together.....if we could even *find* two rocks.....and even then the old people yelled at us and told us not to play our rock so loud.
Young people today.....
