Yes I have

Check for DANGER (or return fire - depending on who's protocol you are using - but this is essentially the same thing)

Check for RESPONSE

Check for AIRWAY - clear out the airway with care to keep alignment of cervical spine

Check for BREATHING - if not breathing, give 2 rescue breaths (this whole thing is under review and is being debated by the international committee on CPR)

Sucking Chest Wound (open pneumothorax) constitutes a danger to breathing. I would dress it, preferably with some form of clinging plastic wrap taped on 3 sides to form a one-way (out only) valve for air to exit the chest but not to enter it.

Check for CIRCULATION - if no palpable pulse, commence CPR

This will cause a collapsed lung I am guessing.

Well instinct tells me to work fast and tape closed the wound asap
standard breathing should keep the lung inflated. But there is a chance that air could exit the lung and enter the space between
the lung and the inner chest wall.If this is the case.......................
(I am not positive how to determine if this is happening, perhaps
listening to the chest near the wound site)if some plastic hose
3/8" to 1/2" dia. and something like a hot water bottle are available, make an incision between two ribs of the affected lung into the lung sack
the correct size to afford a tight fit to the plastic hose.Attach the
other end of the hose to the hot water bottle (in the inflated cond.)
and squeeze it .This should keep the lung inflated ......................
(with God's help) until medical help can be found.I hope.

This is my best guess,I am a toolmaker, not a Doctor.
I am just tring to think along the principals of how this unit functions.

How did I do?

It's basically like a broken radiator.
You just toss in some black pepper and duct tape it shut.
Simple!
