Machu Picchu (Quechua: Old Mountain; sometimes called the "Lost City of the Incas") is a well-preserved pre-Columbian Inca ruin located on a high mountain ridge. Elevation measurements vary depending on whether the data refers to the ruin or the extremity of the mountain, Machu Picchu tourist information reports the elevation as 2,350 m (7,710 ft) [1]. Machu Picchu is located above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, about 70 km (44 mi) northwest of Cusco. Forgotten for centuries by the outside world, although not by locals, it was brought back to international attention by Yale archeologist Hiram Bingham who rediscovered it in 1911, and wrote a best-selling work about it. Peru is pursuing legal efforts to get back thousands of artifacts that Bingham removed from the site.

Machu Pichu is in Cuzco, Peru (South America) which used to be the capital of Peru but was taken over by Spainards. I was born in Peru and have visited the ancient ruins were the Inca civilization existed before the Spaniards (Pizzaro) convinced the Incas, who believed in the Sun and Moon and Mother Earth as Higher Power/source, to convert into Christianity and steal hundreds of gold, jewels, and land. This ancient land is on top of the Andes mountains in the amazon of Peru. It is one ot the 7 wonders of the world for its beauty and radiant spirtiual powers.

On a personal note, I have visited many times to Machu Pichu and I loved the experience every time I've been there. It's breathtaking and it's a journey that will change your life. You do have to chew on coca leaves to prevent sickness from the altitude. The people are great and friendly. The colors are so vibrant and the air is so pure. It's a mystical place where you can spend reconnecting with your soul. I can go on and on..
