Yes and the baby's crying would be a big bother for the other people watching the movie. Don't do it.

It's fine to take a baby to the theatre as far as it not hurting their ears. Babies have a way of sleeping through very loud music and sounds.
The only problem would be the baby crying. Considerate people leave the theatre if the baby starts crying. But, there are many inconsiderate people that let them cry and the rest of the people can't hear the movie.
I don't think there is any harm to the baby going to the movies. Just be considerate of other people if the baby starts crying.

No and yes. I've never understood parents who take babies/toddlers to the movies. When the baby is really young, the loudness of the movie (and yes people...even G-Rated, "kids" movies get loud) scares the pants off of them and makes them cry. You end up taking the baby to the lobby to calm her down, and then go back in and you've missed the movie and then she starts crying again. What's the point? Just wait until it comes out on video and rent it. That way you can take your shoes off, relax, and enjoy it in the privacy of your own home with the kids sleeping.

I didn't take my son to a movie until he was 2 1/2 years old. I love going to the movies but I have always been irritated by parents who bring babies. The theaters are usually pretty loud and wake babies and they cry during the movie and need to be taken out when they cry. So the parent can't even enjoy the movie.
I just go to the movies when my hubby can take care of our son and I only bring my son to kids movies now. It is rude to bring a baby to a movie for adults that other people have paid good money to see and can't enjoy because you brought your baby. Just one of the many sacrifices we have to make as parents.

We have taken our 4 month old to 3 movies so far (one at a drive-in) . She does great. I would suggest investing in ear plugs that you can buy at a local pharmacy though, that way it will deaden the sound for her little ears. Make sure to keep a bottle on hand if you're bottle feeding or be ready to nurse her quickly so that her crying doesn't interrupt the other movie goers. You could also arrive a little early and make sure you get an isle seat in case you need to make a quick retreat. Good luck!

Most babies cannot handle this and more than likely you would be wasting your money because you be taking it outside of theater most of movie. Also, You did not mention the age we took our youngest son to the movies around 8 month's and he did great. But don't suggest this any longer (older, wiser). There are entirely too many decibels in a theater for us let alone a small child. Very harmful to the ears.

Are you willing to leave if the child starts crying? There are places that are appropriate for infants and the movie theater is not one of them. Depending on the movie the noise level could be too loud and cause the infant to start crying. That would then result in your leaving the movie as I am sure you would not want the other patrons to have to listen to your child screaming in distress. If you want to go to the movies, get a sitter, go and the enjoy the evening with your husband or friends. It will be good for you and help you to keep your sanity.

Don't take the baby. They will get bored at some point in the two hours you are there and you won't be able to enjoy the movie. My nephew went to his first movie at 2 1/2 and it was too loud for him and he had to be taken home in the first 10 minutes.

How old is this baby? Remember little ears can become damaged. The bright lights coming from the screen in the middle of darkness can also cause harm. I would not take a baby to a theater, to much that could cause injury.

I would only take a newborn of up to 2-3 months to a theatre. That way if they wake up and start crying, a boob or bottle will satisfy them, and probably go back to sleep. Any older than that would disturbe everyone else's ears.

No, I don't think it's a good idea. If the baby cries, it's incredibly disturbing to the others. A lot of movies are very loud esp. action movies with the load bangs, etc. Get a sitter for the little one.
