My blog is http://www.xanga.com/scaryuncle and I eventually want to build up my readership so I can get feedback on my writing. What I'm asking you is: is it somewhat amusing, or engaging, or worth reading period?

I appreciate y'all's honesty. By all means, be frank.

As far as I can tell, my blog contains whatever strikes my fancy at the moment and has no real theme, unless you consider the generally absurdist perspective I have. Should I focus more, like ONLY on comical things/politics/whatever?

Who are you; what are your experiences; are you especially intelligent in one particular area; what do you have to say? Come one anyone can be engaging with hooks but you "have to be able to relate to write" (Beck) Middle Class white guys as writers are a dying breed. Take a stand on something; like your religious beliefs or lack thereof.

People say they 'find' love, as if it were an object hidden by a rock. But love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman. What people find then is a certain love.

Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.

Lost love is still love. It takes a different form, that's all. You can't see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it.

Well, not too much there - - what kind of writing are you trying to do.. maybe I do not know much abt blog writing - but nothing there grabbed on and pulled me in.. maybe I am just not of a generation that would "get" what you are working at doing -- sorry, but figured an honest opinion was better than none - keep at it though.. I just may not be your audience..

Some interesting things there. Edgy points of view. Get rid of the reverse blue type out of black...very bad, can't be read. Keep going with it, the internet gives any goofy person who can write and spell, a forum.

When you are being humorous, you are engaging. It's your strong suit. Read some of the classic wits like Robert Benchley--if you haven't already. Try to write something every day, whether you feel like it or not. Also, try to read a variety of different types of prose. Good luck.

It isn't horrible but I think you are a bit angry sounding. Why are you attacking something like that in a blog with no one to defend? No one instigated that. You lost me at the script part; I didn't bother.
