This is a very touchy subject. Many reserved people believe that video games are what make children violent. Others see them as mear toys to occupy the child. The truth of the matter is it's all based on what type of game and how much of it the child plays.

Simple fun games like Ape Escape or Mario ( though there are some bit of cartoon violence) are great and entertaining for children 11 and under to play

Other games like DoA, or GTA are very bad for small children to play.

Yes, shooting games can help eye hand coordination but you don't give a 5 or 7 year old a game and tell them to kill... Yes, some games can help with problem solving skills but you can't give the child GTA and tell the child " learn to make money" Myst was good and Oddworlds " Aybs Odyssey was good for problem solving.

The idea is this video games don't hurt children bad parenting hurts children. Monitor what they play, give them games that teach rather than occupy. Don't let them play for more than 2 hours at a game and observe the ESBR ratings. The ESBR are self imposed by the video game industry to help parents make informed decisions.

No. If it were a hazard, then every child who played video games would be showing it. Although video games can influence young children's values and sense of the world, good parenting and parental involvement in what children do would be all it takes to deter negative behavior.

This means paying attention to ESRB ratings, and even paying attention to the game itself.

Video games are not a hazard. Bad parents are.

video games,,,,, no.....Too much video games......yes! ppl getting fat, not eating right, or eating too much, although some can be educational, unfortunately those aren't the games appealing to today's teens/kids. Shoot, die, kill, explode, do drugs, have sex, if a game doesn't have that in it, most kids will refuse it.
