hah, this was a trivia question i saw on a juice bottle the other day.

the answer is "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis" (i had to google it, i remembered it was some type of lung disease). It is 45 letters long.

upon googleing it, i found evidence that the word was a fake, so i'm not exactly sure.

pneumonoultramicrosco
-picsilicovolcanoconiosis (take out the - and put them together)

It is a real word: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

It has been in dictionaries. It was originally postulated by Everett M. Smith, simply to serve as the longest English word, but has been used in several sources as an approximation of its originally intended definition. He was fond of puzzles, and "came up" with this word for some reason, lol.
