You can do so. There is no point though. All the key components are the same as that of a desktop. You just need to buy a motherboard and all other components are essentially the same. 2.5 inch hard drives and SODIMM RAm is available everywhere.
You cannot make a real laptop at home. You can connect the CPU and the monitor and get it working but it will not function as a normal laptop. You cannot buy custom cases for laptops so you will not technically make a laptop.

Yes you can, although not the complete unit. There are companies which sell bare-bone notebooks which require you to add your own CPU, Hard Drive, Memory and CD/DVD-Drive. Those are usually all the customizable options. If you google for "bare-bone laptop" you will find plenty of manufacturers.

i would say upgrading an old one would be a lot easier.. find something with a motherboard that supports a good processor then just go from there...

well the main problem is very harrd to find all laptop hardware by u self. is aleasdy not many company has laptop so i dunno this is a good idea at all.
