Where can I visit from Portland, OR that would only be about 4 hours, drive or flight? There is no limit to what I can spend, need a getaway for my wife and I. Any ideas?

I think British Columbia would be a good choice. There are so many things to do from city to water to snow. It is very beautiful there. Also there are coffee shops in BC kind of like Amsterdam. If you know what I mean. This could make for a vary relaxed and interesting vacation. Laying back with your wife In a hot tub overlooking a huge snow covered mountain. Very Nice
Also Northern California would be a nice choice since money is no object. Marin and Mendocino counties are very beautiful places filled with small towns, nice expensive 'bed and breakfasts' and there is so much organic food and organic wine there. Probably the more expensive choice, but very nice. The Food!!!
Hawaii is about 4 hours by plane I think, if you have a flight leaving directly from your city, still not that much more if you have to fly to LA first. There you have culture, food and island beauty. With no limit on expense, you could get a luxury place that would act as a filter for all of the tourists and just enjoy the atmosphere. In fact, if money isn't an issue, Hawaii might be best choice since you can stay in luxury and dine and travel in exclusive style, all the while in a tropical paradise. In BC or California, you will still have to deal with the public at times. Hawaii would be the most exclusive of the three choices, but that is assuming you are of the health to withstand the hot tropical summer there.
I hope yo have a great trip where ever you go. I wish I could go too, but that is my reasoning in choosing a place to go.

San Francisco is the best place for the two of you.
Have a romantic visit to the Golden Gate Bridge to have a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and Alcatraz, the island of spectacular movies like "Conair" and "The Rock". Visit Muir Woods for the big trees and Sausalito to see celebrities. Dine at the Fisherman's Wharf with a choice of many cuisines.

Whistler, BC in the summer is great.

They are getting ready to host the winter olympics in 2010 and everything is getting buffed up.

It's a great place.

Stay at the Four Seasons.

Fly to Mexico. Or you could try Canada. Or Las Vegas is 2.5 hours.
