At first connect one of your laptop to the telephone line through your laptop modem, and access the internet
and then connect the two computers by cross cables
start- settings - network connections
In that Left corner, Create new connection - next - Setup an Advanced Connection - Connect directly to the computer -By guest or host
Then, just assign the common default gateway for your laptops
and then access the internet

you use an ethernet cable (or wifi if both have it) and a networking program (Microsoft: control panel > network conections > network wizard. Apple : Applications > utilitites > Network > assistant)

u need a router, or serial cable for networking 2 pc's.
