OK...I want to know the actual physics of the guns internal parts that make it work. Yes...we have already established that you aim and pull the trigger...that is generally how a gun works.

This is just a guess, but I think it has a sensor in it that detects the combination of colored light it is receiving. If you have it pointed at a duck, that specific arrangement activates a switch, then pulling the trigger activates another. With both activated, a signal is sent to the game, causing it to display the appropriate animation, and adjust your score accordingly.

A photosensor in the gun synchronizes the computer with the screen and the computer knows what pixel is displayed when the trigger is pulled. If the trigger is pulled when the beam in the TV is at the duck, it's a hit.

There is a little lens inside the gun, like a camera. When you pull the trigger, it takes a "picture" and checks various pixels to see if they match with where the duck currently is. I have a theory that if you have a picture of a blue duck with it's wings open and fire at that when a blue duck has it's wings open on the screen, it'll count as a hit... never tried it, though.

Have to point it directly at the T.V. screen. Can't be at any angle. It used to drive my kids nuts they would always get so frustrated with it. At least technology has come a long ways since then. Oh the internal parts? Well it has a censer closest thing I can compare it to is the wireless remotes they have now for game systems.
