This past school year, I was a sophomore in highschool. I got made fun of a lot, but mostly for how I looked. People would laugh at the way I did my make up. I would wear black mascara, black eyeliner, blue or metallic colored eyeshadow, dark lipstick, and lipgloss. I have dark brown hair and brown eyes. People would get the impression I was a goth or that I was emo. I never labeled myself before and I just thought it looked good on me. So this summer, I decided to try different colors out and they look fine as well, but I still like what I did sophomore year, but I also want something new. The last month of school, I got light brown streaks and some say they look blonde. Does anyone know any good make up ideas for dark brown hair wirh light brown streaks on long hair with brown eyes, since I would like to try something different for this new school year?

If I were you I would try puting on a light color eyeshadow like a light tan. I got mine about last week at CVS and its Almay brand and chose the one with light colors. (not a blue because blue is only for stagemake-up) and then some black mascara on your top lashes, and a little swipe of mascara on the bottom lashes. Then maybe a little plain shiny lip gloss thats like a light pink or even clear! (just for that extra shine) -ABSOLUTLY NO DARK LIP STICK!!!! LOL and you can wear some eyeliner but only occasionally- and not a lot!

Well i hope this helps you! good luck next year! And if this doesnt work you can go to a mall and in like Lord And Taylor and Hechts you can make an appointment for them to show you what looks good on your skin type!

I'm a naturally light completed girl and during the first year and a half of high school, I wore what now I consider ALOT of make-up. I wore lots of eyeliner, foundation, eyeshadow...on and on. Insecurity I guess. Anyhow, guys much more prefer a girl that doesn't wear alot of makeup but still takes care of herself so I changed my appearance.

Tips:
You can wear base (foundation) at anytime without looking overdone as long as your not getting the "mask effect". Make sure you're buying the base that best matches your skin tone and doesnt leave streaks. I ALWAYS rub in non-oily lotion before applying---it really does improve the appearance of the foundation. My personal favorite foundation is Cover Girl Advanced Radiance which doesn't clog pores so you don't break out plus is goes on evenly. I've used it for years and is wooonderful.

If you want to go for the more seductive look (not that you need to b/c you're in high school) wear a little bit of eyeliner. It's tough to learn at first but try using it on the top lid as it gives your eyes more definition. When you wear eyeliner, use less makeup on the rest of your face to avoid looking "overdone". Use light colors that complement your skin tone. For light tones use pinks or light greys, for medium use shades of browns and dark tones use a bronze color. There are also colors that bring out your eye color. When using eyeliner and noticible eyeshadow avoid blush as it makes you look like a clown...in my opinion. Also be sure to wear light colored lip stick (again, color depending on skin tone). I use pink lip gloss.

When you decide to go for a more natural look---toss the eyeliner and use a little bit darker eyeshadow for definition. Use mascara (dont over use...spider lashes are not cute). Since you wont be using eyeliner, now the blush comes in but not too dark. You can also use a darker colored lipstick. I prefer lipliner followed by lipgloss and I make sure it blends in evenly...no lines.

Hair tip:

Hair styles can actually change the appearance of your face. Research has shown that how the hair lays on the face somewhat changes peoples perception of beauty. I like long side bangs such as Jennifer Aniston or Kristen from Laguna Beach.

I hope these tips work for ya---Im 19 so I remember very well how high school works! Remember that everyone is beautiful in their own way--just find whats comfortable for you! Good luck!

OK what you need is a professional consultation.

I know that sounds scary and expensive, but it can change your life..... so why not do it? It may not be that much either. Check around, tell them you are a student and ask for a shorter consultation if you can't afford say a whole hour.

And I'm not talking Laverne down at Dottie's Hair Salon.

A make-up professional can show you how to use minimal product to get the most of what you have. Ever watch "What Not To Wear"? I love those little spots where they show these women how to use makeup and the key is always "subtle and blend".

Like anything in life, makeup takes training. Get yourself trained!

For foundation if needed use a color close to your skintone as well as a pressed shine-free powder for any oil or shine

Use a liner on the top close to the lash line only because you'll look natural
Use the same color mascara as your line 1/2 coats on the top only
For your eyeshadow I'd use Plums/Greens/Pinks to match your eye color don't go vibrante just a nice pale shade on the whole lid

Stray away from blush until your early or late 20's

Top it off with a pale pink or lavender gloss

I've got the same coloring as you - and this is what I would suggest: if you like wearing all that make up (lets admit it, its fun) go for the browns... brown eyeliner is great for everyday. for shadow you can use a shimmery brown or contrast your eye color with green. you might definitely want to switch to a brown black mascara, it looks great and dark, without being too harsh. my final advice: if you want to be really dramatic, pick one feature and focus on that ... eg. use one dark product, like eyeliner, and keep everything else simple. this will make you really stand out.

Good luck! (And dont forget just to have fun with make up)

* Makeup Tips For Brown Eyes *

While I don't believe that there are set-in-stone makeup tips for brown eyes, I do know some people like to have a set of "rules" to help them out. Keep in mind that variety is the spice of life, and if you really like a color there is no reason why you shouldn't try it out. You may be surprised at how good it looks on you. In my experience, experimenting is all the fun. So, remember these are merely guidelines to help you choose colors when you're standing there in front of 300 colors and have no idea where to start. Just because I don't mention anything about a certain color does not automatically exclude it from the list.

Choosing An Eyeshadow
The most popular question I get is "what eyeshadow can I wear with my eye color?" Listen up, and I'll tell you.

General makeup tips for brown eyes always include browns, beige and neutral tans. Grays and charcoals look good with this eye color, as do violet and lavender.

Khaki and olive green are a great color combination. Browns with green highlights or copper highlights are always a fun option. Try copper and even gold. If your eyes have a tinge of green, or like mine are half green, choose green eyeshadows as well.

You'll find that even though you've heard that you should never wear an eyeshadow the same color as your eyes, that brown shadow can look very good with brown eyes and green shadow can look very good with green eyes. Sometimes it's a matter of finding the "right" shade. Brown eyeshadows are all pretty safe, so you don't have to worry too much about those. Colors like purple, green and blue require a bit more testing.

Black is out, so don’t use it as an eyeshadow.

Keep trying until you find a color you like. You'll know when it's right- trust your instincts.

Colors To Avoid
Like I said, I hate to rule anything out, but makeup tips for brown eyes should include that certain pink and mauve eyeshadows can cause you to look swollen or puffy around your eyes. It isn't true for all women or for all pinks, either. But if you're certain you don't want to risk it, avoid pinks. Mauves also fall into this category. It may be because women with brown eyes tend to have more yellow skintones making them warm complexioned and pinks and mauves are definitely cool colors. The blue in the pinks can react with the yellow of the skin producing an unattractive feature.

And while it isn't specifically makeup tips for brown eyes, you may want to avoid blue eyeshadow too. There's the misconception that blue eyeshadow is "out", but like I said, it really depends on who's wearing it. Playing it safe would include skipping this color.

Silvers are not a good color for brown eyes. They tend to cause a “washed out” look. Leave silver for blue eyes.

Eyeliner Colors
And now for the eyeliner colors. Brown eyes always should include dark brown and black eyeliner. These are very good choices for this eye color. Don’t line your black liner too thick, though. That’s passé. Racoon eyes are a big no-no.

If you’re trying to open small eyes, line with silver or white, especially the first third from the inside corner of your eyelid. Then finish with a dark brown.

Navy, forest green, violet and copper are also great eyeliner choices. Play around with the different colors and pick the ones you like best.

* Compliment Your Eye Color
Brown Eyes: Metallics like copper and bronze and gold are great for accenting brown eyes. Also use brown, beige, champage, khaki and olive greens. Or go wild and use hot pink, tangerine, lime green or bright blue. It's up to you.

* If you have brown hair

Eyes:

Dust bone shadow all over the eyelid and medium brown on the lid from lashline to crease. Use mahogany as a liner.

Lips:

Lip color with brown undertones and a hint of pink or plum work best for brunettes.

Cheeks:

Choose a shade of pink that looks like the color of your cheeks when they're naturally flushed.

Im going to be a sophmmore.
Its good that you found what looked good on you.
Highschool kids are so shallow, if what you look like isnt EXACTLY like everyone else, all they know how to do is make fun.
If you want to try something not so bold, try some bronzy eyeshadow, and a lighter lipstick.
You shouldnt do anything just because others dont like it, but if you just want to try something new, experiment with what looks good on you.
I hope that helped. :]

Go light on the shadow. You don't need to wear that much makeup to school anyway. I can't live without eye liner and red lipstick and my mineral foundation but thats it.
