The experiment was to count how many people noticed something about the question. how many people truly pay attention to what they read. it it obvious that most don't even read the details just read their answers.

Well. I think the question was interesting, and it seems to me you wanted everyone to notice your hybrid comment. Very interesting the way the mind sees what it wants and omits what it doesnt understand. I saw an experament once where the entire paragraph was written with only the first and last letters of the words with nonsense inbetween, but it made perfect sense because the mind fills in the blanks. Sort of your experament in reverse.

I think it's a terrible experiment. For one thing, it was designed to prove an opinion, not to test a hypothesis; it was biased from the word go. For another thing, the "details" you provided didn't sufficiently undermine the initial question, so that one could easily read all the details and still be more interested in answering the question than in giving you what you were "looking for."

And thirdly, why is it a bad thing that people ignore what they have no interest in? Seems perfectly rational to me. If you want good answers, pose your questions succinctly.

I enjoy the opportunity to invoke the wisdom of my fellow humans, and I am disappointed by the lack of such.
