don't think the majority hate usa...but those that do seem to dislike the fundamentalist approach to "internal" security which appears to involve invading as many countries as possible to impose american governmental ideals. for such an inward looking country, it certainly does like to impose itself all across the globe. i don't hate usa...i just disagree with its' policies regarding the rest of the planet.america does not have the right to be the worlds police no matter how much they might like to think that is the case. it is largely due to a history of disastrous foreign policies set by ever increasingly inept presidents, the current incumbent being no exception, that so many people have an intense dislike, distrust and sadly a hatred of america. is it too much to ask that the american government wake up to its failures and try to learn from their countless mistakes?

you have answered your own question with issues such as Kyoto, the war on terror, Guantanamo bay, Strategic defence initiative (space defence and the ability to remove other nations satellites from space), while Europe has shown a keen desire to avoid war (bar Britain but were just tryin to prove that were still hard) Most of the buildings, bridges and power stations that Israel is currently blowing up in palestinian and Lebanese land were built by the EU with EU cash, whilst the weapons being used to destroy them are american. that is possibly a few reasons why the US is unpopular?

Because the USA gets blamed for all the horrid mistakes of our government. And, since we are a strong, influential country, we are expected to fix all the worlds problems too.
I hate the fact that a lot of other countries hate America, in general, when I am just a person like them, who wants to see all the stuff you listed corrected too.

USA is intervening in most of the affairs of other states unlike Europe. USA invades countries like Iraq for nukes but nothing was found. USA controls the economies of other countries unlike Europe which is passive.

they burn your flag as it's usually cold when they are demonstrating and they want to keep warm and haven't got a nice England flag to burn. We usually get it straight after the good ol' USA, so don't feel too bad about it.. maybe it's also that they are cheaper to make than a lot of other flags...

Because Europeans, particularly in Britain, have been brainwashed against America by the left wing/liberal TV media and educationalists, over a number of years. They can't bear to admit that their left wing dogma has failed yet again.

Because Europe is a group of many different countries, with many different political parties, with many different beliefs.
America is: 1 country, 1 economy, 1 ruling party, 1 priority (America), yet it wants to run/police/ be the decision makers for the whole world. It belittles the U.N (united countries from around the world), invades countries for fictitious reasons, what more do you want?
The reason the U.S is singled out is because it singles itself out & makes decisions that affect the rest of the world, with no regard for the rest of the world, for it's own benefit.
Now where's my lighter.
