No. Not only is regular radio free, it's easier to get in cities, where satellite often fails, and FM didn't kill out AM radio. I personally think XM sucks. I listened to it across the width of Nebraska twice in one week, and I'll take my FM any day.

I don't think so. Regular radio is free. Just like people who cannot afford to pay for cable watch network tv.
