You are. Learn to write in English. They can speak different dialects and languages, but they aren't educated. They can't write and read. The Russian tank manuals were picture books for several years because nobody could read. The AK-47 was designed with a sixth grade education. Just because people know how to talk does not make them really intelligent. The American and Japanese school systems are the best in the world.

Third world countries' populations have an overwhelmingly high percentage of people living in poverty. Most of these people have no access to schools or hospitals. They speak to each other but cannot read or write, hence the high illiteracy rate for the country. Indians in business and other fields are part of the smaller percentage of well-educated people, but they are outnumbered by the poor.

They learn English because they know Americans have money and most of them dream of coming to America . However if you ever talk to customer service in India You'll realize they are simply reading a flowchart of common problems they're no different than reading the manual. The reason people think they are so dumb is because of cultural differences. Like we don't bathe in the same river our goat urinates in and we don't worship beef we eat it.

In India you have a highly educated level of people, but they are the exception not the rule. Like most developing nations it is a top down society with most of the population uneducated and poor.

Illiteracy was due to poverty since third world countries lack funds for education. Thus, even when people could speak 2 languages, they lack education for commerce and technology.

Just because you can speak it doesnt mean you can read it. Literacy has to do with reading proficiency, if you can't read you are illiterate regardless of how many languages you speak.

They might be able to speak two languages, which is a talent, but if they are illiterate it's because they can't read.

Illiterate means they can't read or write. It has nothing to do with language ability.
