Hi Eepsha,

You have Windows 98 installed in your PC, not downloaded. The Windows 98 or XP are not programs but operating systems which costs 50-100$ and its not open to public for downloads. You can do it if you have an Microsoft MSDN subscritpion which costs a lot. Also its not a small program, but comes arround 1-2 GB. Go and buy a legal version CD from any shop or buy online and upgrade your PC.

And for your color problem, it is not necessary to upgrade it to XP. Windows 98 can perform well provided you have installed correct driver for your display card and set your display properties correctly.

Go to Wal-Mart or Best Buy and plunk down about $90.00 for XP Home. You can't download it legally.

If the colors are off on your PC, check the video settings in Control Panel first. Make sure the color depth is set to 65,000 colors or more. If that doesn't fix it, look for an updated video driver. There's also a chance that you monitor is dying. Connect it to a PC that is working properly to test. If it's the monitor, just replace it. They're not worth repairing.

First check if you have a video adapter that is inbult on your mother board or an VGA adapter, depending on what you have go the manufacturers site and download the drivers for Windows 98 and that may fix the issue. If planning to install WinXP please have a check on the system requirement is meeting up or not if not your computer performance may be very bad.

Chethan

There may be a problem with your monitor or video card. I also suggest upgrading to a newer version of Windows. You can get it from torrentspy.com but that would be illegal. Also you need to burn the Windows files in a special way so that you will be able to boot it up. You can find the instructions for that in the discussion for the torrent.
