If it were to be in NY or in Washington or Texas or anywhere else, would it be any different? Why is Cal chosen when they decided to create Hollywood?

Edison was charging outrageous royalties for use of his film system so a group of film makers left New York and went to the other side of the country to try and get out of paying them. It didn't work.

The guy, I forgot his name , wanted to film a western, so he bought a ticket to Flagstaff Az, he got off the train , saw trees and snow, not desert and said oops, this is no place for a western, he then bought a ticket to the end of the line .. So. California... and the rest is history

Please tell me you're not really this stupid. Hollywood is the name of a city in California, just like Los Angeles or San Francisco. Hollywood is not the name of a movie studio...it is a city.

because it has so many different choices for scenery. the coast, the redwoods (forest), dried up areas, valleys, rivers... that's what I think.
