Square boxes cost less to make that round boxes. Rather than people taking the time to make round boxes (which are harder to do due to its shape), square boxes are much easier to make.

I would also guess that it is because square boxes cost more to make. Restaurant are all about being cost effective (believe me I know I work in one). I have never seen a circular pizza box, though I have had square pizza before.
Here is some info on square and non-square pizza boxes (link below).
Good question! :-)

Circular Boxes just aren't Economical - They have to be Custom-Made &, accordingly, are Much more Expensive!...and the circular shape decreases the area for storage...unless you're dealing with Only circular objects...Like Pizzas!
Rectangular/Square Boxes are the Norm - generally, allowing more products to be Stored within them!
Good Question!...I think a Seller of High-End/Premium Pizzas, with a solid reputation in the community...Could really Set-Themselves apart from all others...By paying the Extra to have Circular Boxes made!!!

You THINK, you are seeing a circle but pizza pie is actually square. It's a optical illusion.
The area of a circle is pi times the square of the length of the radius, or "pi r squared":
A = pi*r^2
Therefore, it fits in a square box!

I worked for georgia pacific.. in box making facility. Keep in mind that all boxes start off as a flat sheet of cardboard. How easy do you think it would be to make a round box? Square boxes are much easier to make... and much cheaper.

Square boxes are easier to make. They keep the pizza better as they are more secure at the bottom and being square makes it easier to take the slices of pizza to eat without getting burned (when pizza is still hot)...
I wish I had a slice of Quatro stagioni right now! Yammy....

That is to fool you. No really, round boxes are difficult to make, so, they use square boxes that are easy (and cheaper) to make.
