Why Don't The People Who Like The Iraq War Go Fight It?

Why are there so many of them lounging around here? They should be fighting for...what was it again...anyway they shouldn't be here, they should all be there. What is the real reason they aren't in Iraq right now?

Because the people who wanted the war never had any intention of actually fighting in it. Perish the thought!! They would rather make others do their dirty work for them. It is much easier to put one's hidden agenda into play by duping people into believing all the grand, charitable reasons - excuses really - for carrying that idea out. Why would Bush, etc. send themselves into what is fast becoming Vietnam Part II? It is so much easier to send in the poor, the young, the minorities, and those who love their country enough to be misled by their leader.

As for those civilians who are defending the war left and right, I truly believe they are defending it as an ideal, defending the idea of going out into the world and spreading democracy, yay! They are usually in denial about the cold, cruel reality of it, the death, the destruction, the damage to human life and our reputation. They would never dream of going themselves, because they take it as their due that someone else will do it for them.

By the way, this is only my humble, jaded opinion, and I know I can't speak for everyone. I am dealing in generalities of course.

Oil. The ones who ought to go fight are under the false impression that the troops are fighting for our freedom, which is ironic since a lot of our freedoms are being taken away by the Patriot Act, not terrorism.
